1. Scenery
We kindly ask you not to use Microsoft's default scenery (MSFS 2002 or 2004). Instead, please use one of the sceneries listed below, since only their ground layout fits the real co-ordinates and our ATC sectorfiles best.

2. Charts
Since busy frequencies and short times to comply are to be expected,
it is mandatory to be familar with Frankfurt Airport procedures by using
charts. Therefore, download the complete package
Since the following charts might have to be used in
the busiest moments of your flight, we recommend printing them out for quicker
reference:

DO NOT USE REAL TAXI CHARTS as the taxiway designations have been changed in Frankfurt and the sceneries available to you are not updated yet. ALWAYS USE THE VATSIM GERMANY CHARTS INTSEAD!

3. Routes
It is also very
important that you file a valid flightplan route. VATRoute.net
should be your first address to find a
matching route inbounbd or outbound
Frankfurt, more than 350 destinations are available.
-
If you are
planning your own route to Frankfurt, it is necessary that
your last waypoint fits to the published clearance limits
and RNAV transitions.
- Please do not prefile any SID or STAR, they will be
assigned by ATC.

4. Procedures
General Information
-
Report the latest ATIS information designator on initial contact
to Langen Radar (Frankfurt Arrival) or Delivery. ATIS Frequency is
118.020
-
Make sure you are able to handle your FMC to fly SIDs and
transitions. If your FMC hasn't stored it, put it in, in
accordance to the arrival or departure charts
-
Don't do anything, unless you are cleared for it. Especially do
not mistake a "startup approved" for a pushback clearance.
-
Until wind exceeds 5kts tailwind, runway direct 25 will be in use.
-
The US phrase "Taxi into position and hold" is "Line up and wait"
in Europe.
-
German VFR traffic is handled by Tower, most of the time in German language. However, VFR in English is available too.
-
Taxiway November is only used for westbound traffic, taxiway Alpha
is only used for eastbound traffic. Don't miss them. Read the
charts!
Departure

-
Get your route from vatroute.net for valid flightplans.
You will not receive your clearance without it.
-
With clearance you will receive your SID. Listen carefully, we
expect you can fly it. If not, request a vectored departure.
-
With the SID you know your departure runway: In SOBRA1S the S
tells you Runway 18. This works as follows:
- S, L, U → Runway 18
- F, G, J, Q → Runway 25 L/C
- E, D, C → Runway 07 C/R
-
Do not report "Airborne" to Frankfurt Tower. Once you are airborne, immediately
switch to departure frequency as mentioned in the ATIS.

-
Stating "Ready for departure" while taxing on the last assigned
taxiway may result in a rolling-take off clearance. If you get one,
please don't stop on the runway. Also be ready for immediate departure when reaching the holding point. If you are cleared for immediate take off, take off as quickly as possible. Report "unable" if you cannot take off immediately prior to departure.
-
Initial altitude for runways 25 L/C and 07 C/R is 5000ft. For
runway 18 initial altitude is 4000ft. Please never climb higher
unless cleared by ATC!

Arrival

-
Listen to the ATIS carefully prior to entering arrival airspace. It tells
you the approach to expect.
-
Study the charts for the RNAV transitions carefully, you will be
instructed to fly them. If your aircraft is unable to do so,
insert the remark "unable for RNAV transition" into your
flightplan.
-
On final approach, expect speed restrictions of 170knots to the
outer marker, which is 5.0 DME FRD 115.900
-
Plan your descent as follow:
PSA: FL110
KERAX → GED: FL110
UNOKO → RAMOB: FL110
ROLIS → ETARU: FL100
